GENERAL

What is Ottawa Suspension?

Ottawa Suspension is an independent, specialized mountain bike suspension workshop focused exclusively on forks, shocks and dropper posts. Suspension isn’t a side service; it’s the work.

What brands do you service?

Most modern suspension from Fox, RockShox, Öhlins, Cane Creek, and Manitou is supported. If you are unsure about a specific model, ask before booking.

Are you an authorized service center?

Service is performed as an independent professional workshop using correct procedures, fluids, and parts.

Do you work with local bike shops?

Yes. Being independent allows work with any bike shop in the Ottawa–Gatineau area. Suspension can be dropped off or shipped directly to the workshop. If a bike is being serviced at a National Capital Region bike shop, the shop can coordinate directly for suspension service.

Where are you located?

Service is performed in a dedicated suspension workspace in Ottawa. All work is by appointment only.
We are located in Quick Crank's basement but we are two separate businesses with no affiliations. They have a preferential shipping rate I guess! 😄

HOW IT WORKS

What services do you offer?

Fork and rear shock service, air spring service, damper service, full overhauls, inspections, and diagnostics for mountain bike suspension and dropper posts.

Do I need an appointment?

Yes. All suspension work is by appointment only.

How does the service process work for individual customers?

Fill out the online service form. A quote is sent. Once approved, an appointment is scheduled. The suspension is serviced promptly. When the work is completed, a payment link is sent. Pickup is arranged after payment.

Can bike shops coordinate directly with you?

Yes. Shops submit the service form, receive a quote, and confirm. A pickup time is scheduled. The suspension is brought to the workshop, serviced, and once ready a payment link is sent. After payment, the suspension can be picked up or delivered back to the shop.

Can I drop off or ship my suspension?

Yes. Suspension can be dropped off by appointment or shipped directly once service is confirmed.

How long does a service take?

Most services are completed within a few business days depending on workload and parts availability. When parts are in stock, turnaround is typically 24 to 48 hours. An estimated turnaround time is provided with the quote.

Can I bring a full bicycle to get my suspension serviced?

Yes. You’re welcome to bring a complete bicycle.

However, we have very limited space and we strongly recommend bringing the fork and shock removed from the bike whenever possible. Servicing suspension off the bike allows for faster handling, easier access, and a more efficient workflow, which helps keep turnaround times short.

If you prefer to drop off the bike complete, we can remove and reinstall the suspension for you for an additional $25 per suspension. This covers the extra time required for removal, reinstallation, torque checks, and basic setup verification.

SERVICE & MAINTENANCE QUESTIONS

How often should suspension be serviced?

Air spring or lower leg service is generally recommended every 50 hours. Damper service is typically recommended every 100 to 200 hours. Actual intervals depend on riding conditions and usage.

Is suspension service worth it?

Yes. Regular service improves performance, reliability, and longevity, and helps prevent internal damage.

Can neglected suspension be serviced?

Often, yes. If excessive wear or damage is found, options will be discussed before proceeding.

Do you offer custom tuning?

Tuning is limited to changing the tune to an alternative factory tune on select RockShox and Fox shocks. Full custom valving is not currently offered.

Can you help choose the right service or interval?

Yes. Advice is part of the service and based on how and where the bike is ridden.

WARRANTY, LIMITS & POLICIES

Do you offer warranty on your work?

All work is covered by a workmanship warranty. Any service-related issues should be reported promptly.

What if my suspension cannot be serviced?

If a unit is unsafe, obsolete, or uneconomical to repair, this will be communicated before work proceeds.

Are there units you won’t service?

Some older or unsupported models may not be serviceable due to parts availability or design limitations.

What happens if an estimate is declined?

If an estimate is declined after the suspension has been disassembled for inspection, a $25 fee applies to reassemble the suspension without service.

What payment methods are accepted?

Payment is completed online via a secure payment link once the service is finished to ensure a fast and efficient pickup. Payment at pickup is also accepted, including Visa, Mastercard, Interac, and cash.
